Months 1 - 7
I was just reminiscing about how little Ellie used to be and thought it might be fun to do a post compiling all of her monthly photos. So without further ado, watch our magic bean grow right in front of your eyes!

1 month later...
Ellie is one month old!
I love these stickers! We had fun propping Ellie up in the corner of the couch with a fun fabric background (a quilt made for her by our friend's mom). We took a bunch of photos with her propped up like this and then some of her lying on her back. I think we'll do a combination of both styles of photos for a few months to see what works best for us. I can't wait until we have a few of these photos so we can start comparing them!

Picture Perfect Project
We knew we wanted to do something unique with our wedding photos. We had originally planned on having our favourite photo put on to a large stretched canvas but our budget prevented that from happening.* Somehow we had never really considered the mismatched picture frame idea, even though I love it! Today we decided to head out to our local second-hand stores and see what kind of mismatched frames we could find. We were pretty darn successful, and thus, the mismatched picture wall idea prevailed.
Here's what we did:
Step 1: Scour second-hand stores for cheap frames.
Step 2: Purchase a can of spray paint and some picture hanging hardware (a couple must-have frames didn't have this feature built in).
Step 3: Lay down some newspaper, cardboard or other protective surface wherever you plan to paint.
Step 4: Sand and dust off your frames (it helps the paint adhere better).
Step 5: Paint, dry, repeat until each frame is evenly covered. (At this point I also painted the matting that came with 2 of the frames, because dusty rose and maroon just didn't 'go' with our bedroom colours).
Step 6: Attach hardware, put your pictures in your frames and hang them however you like!
We're still working on steps 5 and 6. We're no experts on spray painting techniques, so we ran out of paint with only a tiny bit more painting to do (oops). Then, we also need to have a few more pictures printed to fit the unusual frame sizes we bought. Lastly, we will hang them and enjoy our mismatched picture frame wall!

* Note that you can often do this fairly cheaply with web sites such as Shutterfly. They almost always have specials or discounts, especially when you first open a (free) account.

Picking a Photographer

We knew that choosing the right photographer for our wedding was one of our main priorities. The photos are something you have to look back on, years later when you can't remember all the details. We have some great photographers on our guest list (family and friends), but we want them to be able to enjoy themselves rather than work during our wedding day. Knowing this meant we had to hire professionals, we started by looking at a ton of web sites and getting quotes from a bunch of local photographers. We were pretty bummed to find out that most were well beyond our budget (even though we prioritized photography, it didn't mean we were willing to spend an enormous sum of moola on it).

After a lot of searching, we were lucky enough to find a photographer that had a promotion on at the time. The promotion even included a free engagement session. Perfect! This allowed us the chance to 'test' out their photography and get to know them before the wedding day. Our photographers are a married couple that originally lived a bit far from our wedding city; however, lucky for us (and the environment!), they relocated to a much closer location (= less carbon emissions travelling to our wedding!). The best part is they do great work! The photos throughout this post are from our engagement session with them.
