Suggestions?

I've reached the point where I'm ready to have some 'me' time. It doesn't have to be terribly exciting and I don't want to go far or be away from Ellie for too long (since I'm breastfeeding and not yet ready to figure out pumping). So I'm looking for your suggestions of things I can do for a half hour or hour every other day or so. I don't yet have my doctor's okay to exercise, so sadly this means yoga or a quick jog are out of the question. Any ideas??

Go to coffee shop, Blog. Read. Stare aimlessly out the window. People watch. Be alone. Have fun!! Don't forget the breast pads because just thinking about Ellie will make them start spraying!

I agree with everything Liz said. Can you bring a book or even just some music down to the beach with you and sit out there for a little while (if the weather's nice)? Maybe go for a walk along there or do some sort of mental exercise to distract you for a little while--look for rocks with certain patterns or beach glass.

It sounds silly, but I try to come up with mental activities just to get my mind of my thesis because I think about it ALL the time. I know it's nothing like having a baby, but sometimes silly things like that help. A friend who was also writing her thesis told me once that when she felt overwhelmed, sometimes she would get up and wander around her home looking at objects and vocalizing them (so, if she saw a blue vase, she would say "blue vase"). Actually saying the words out loud meanings that you have to think about it, but at the same time, the concentration it requires is pretty low. You could go outside and do that while still being close to Ellie.
